This study uses resting and stress echocardiography to determine if lone paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) affects atrial phasic function during exercise. While left and right atrial enlargement is linked to AF risk in the general population, its link in athletes remains only inferential, and few studies have examined the impact of AF on atrial function and how it affects exercise performance.
